We kicked off our 2023 year’s theme of WORD OF MOUTH with the great ZINE ZONE Workshop co-presented by our Toowoomba Zine Library Founder and academically acclaimed Bianca Martin and long  time zine maker and children’s workshop presenter Bronte Geitz.  Our grateful thanks to sponsors Jeremy Rodhe, owner and bonza bookish bloke at Jeremy’s Book Exchange and Julie and the beautiful pink piano from The Bookmaker Studio, now the Creative Meditation Collective both at Uni Plaza on West Street. (Please support these local businesses on socials and drop in to the Uni Plaza in person)

The participants were enthralled by the history of Zines, the calm and knowledgeable presenters and the ambience of the studio.  Making Zines, the independent micro magazines based on whatever theme and style interests the maker, was certainly a Zen couple of hours.  All were very pleased with their own zines and heartily encouraged by the lovely ladies, and we are sure there will be more offerings on the horizon.  Thanks everyone for such a positive start to our 2023 program.

Our next event is the READING ALLOWED WORKSHOP.  On Thursday March 2nd we are very excited to be hosted by the community-hearted Rachael Carter  at the social enterprise Mosaic Hues outlet at the corner of Victoria and Keefe Streets.  From 4.30-6pm anyone who reads to children will have fun:-

  • A bundle of Enid Blyton books

Tickets are $20  per person……grandparents, Dads and Mums, babysitters, siblings, school volunteers and teaching assistants all encouraged to come along and learn how to interest and engage children when reading aloud.
